New! Jungle Discovery
Book now for visits from 21 April 2026
In our brand-new African Forest Classroom, next to our troop of gorillas, discover the sounds, smells and animals of the African jungle. Students will learn how rainforests differ from other habitats and how they provide food and shelter for humans and animals, before trying out some animal movements like gorilla knuckle walking!
Students will:
Identify sounds and smells of rainforests
Learn about rainforest plants, and animals living in rainforests and deserts
Understand that rainforests are important for animals and people

Minibeast Exploration
(Available April - July)
Find out about bugs and their habitats before going on a real minibeast hunt! Students discover different groups of minibeasts and get to grips with using bug pots, magnifying glasses and identification charts.
Students will learn to:
Understand that the term ‘minibeasts’ describes animals without a backbone
Describe some features and habitats of different minibeasts
Use simple equipment to collect and observe a range of British minibeasts

Wildly Creative
Little learners will use their senses to explore colours, patterns and textures in nature. They will find out these features importance in helping animals to survive. This session takes place outdoors, guiding learners through hands-on activities using natural materials to create artworks and decorations.
Students will:
Use a range of senses in physical activities and challenges
Use a range of natural materials creatively
Produce artwork considering colour, pattern and texture

African Safari
Come on a safari adventure at Bristol Zoo Project! Explore the African village, see our giraffes and zebras, and learn about the animals that live on the African savannah with hands-on biofacts including furs and skulls.
Locate Africa and consider what it would be like for humans and animals to live there
Know that the African savannah is a habitat where some African animals live
Identify some animals which live in Africa

Amazing Madagascar
In our Madagascar Schoolhouse, next to the lemurs and spotted deer, students discover the unique species of the world’s fourth largest island, through real biofacts and interactive activities.
Students will learn to:
Identify Madagascar's location, rainforest habitat and animals
Learn about climate and weather in Madagascar
Understand that trees are important for animals and people
